After a routine clean, I came home to find the backyard gate wide open. One of my dogs, Duke, had wandered off and I eventually found him a few streets away, very close to a highway. I’d asked many times for the gate to be secured before anyone left the property… but that detail had been forgotten.

I found Duke in time. Nothing happened — and I was so relieved.

But the moment stayed with me. Because relief came with something else: panic, and the question “What if?” Cleaning, I realised, isn’t just about how the house looks. It’s about how safe your pets are while you’re away.

As a time-poor commuter and corporate worker relying on someone to help at home, it became painfully clear to me that there was no cleaning service built specifically for households with pets — where animals aren’t treated as an afterthought, but as family members whose comfort and safety matter.

So I decided to build the service I wished already existed.

Duke was safe that day. But I couldn’t stop thinking about what might have happened — and how many animals, especially in the wild, don’t get that second chance. After researching the risks faced by native wildlife, I knew Pawsitively Clean had to contribute to something bigger.
